Black Mindz

The Full Story
About
Black Mindz originated as a dynamic student organization at Marquette University in 2020, led by a group of empathetic and intelligent young women who have since graduated. After a period of inactivity, it was revitalized by Maiya Sabree, Jasmine Scott, India Lock, and Gabby Shoulders. In 2023, this dedicated team transformed Black Mindz into a thriving hub for Black undergraduate students, fostering connections, promoting mental health awareness, and building a strong community. Black Mindz is committed to creating a comfortable dialogue around mental health, actively working to destigmatize these important discussions within Black communities.

Mission
Our mission is off to an exhilarating start with the Marquette University chapter of Black Mindz, and we are incredibly enthusiastic about our plans to expand to numerous universities and colleges across the nation! What began as a simple dream has transformed into a powerful and active goal that drives us forward. We are committed to reaching out to those who truly need the support and camaraderie of their peers, as well as those who are eager to learn more about their own mental health while navigating the college experience. Together, we are not just forming chapters; we are building a vibrant community that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students everywhere!
Vision
We envision a nurturing and inclusive environment for every Black student across all college campuses, one that highlights the critical importance of mental health. This envisioned space would serve a community where students actively support and uplift one another, fostering a sense of camaraderie and leadership. In this setting, they would not only help each other navigate their experiences but also cultivate valuable professional skills that will benefit them in their future endeavors.
